Mission & Vision Statement
The core of our excellence in pipe trades education is a marriage of the expertise of our education staff and the conviction of our members that we must maintain the highest degrees of skill amongst our members.
Our staff of 25 includes 16 full and part-time instructors, six instructor-testers and staff in the 38-bay welding shop, and nine support and management employees.
Our weld shop teaching staff are highly qualified in all techniques, metals and alloys. The shop provides B Pressure welding instruction, as well as pre-employment weld testing. Our instructors are certified to issue B Pressure tickets? Our facility is ABSA Authorized for Pressure weld testing. We also test CWB for Certification
Over the years, we’ve trained thousands of plumber members to qualify as Interprovincial Red Seal steamfitter/pipefitters, providing them with more employment opportunities, and our employers with a larger supply of skilled trade’s people.
Our pipefitter instructors are qualified to teach a wide variety of subjects, including basic pipefitting, bench fabrication, soldering/brazing, isometric drawing, steam tracing and poly fusion.
The 160-hour rigging course that we developed – partially involving a training apparatus that is truly unique – has been adopted throughout the United States as the standard in all nuclear, coal and gas-fired power plant construction and maintenance. With the decline of US industrial construction activity and the coming of the construction boom in Alberta, our rigging program is now North America’s standard of excellence.
