Dispatch
We run a simple dispatch process.
First, we have to know you want to go to work.
Fill out an Out-of-Work Fax Form (link to form) and fax it to our Dispatch Centre at 780 451-2018. (Please note you can’t fax it to us from a jobsite.) Out-of-Work forms are available from our offices in Edmonton and Fort McMurray, or on this web site.
Second, show up at the Dispatch Centre.
Work slips are given to members at the Dispatch Centre (16214 ¬– 118 Avenue, Edmonton) at the following times Monday through Friday, except Statutory Holidays:
B Welders: 9 am
Fitters: 10 am
Apprentices: 1:30 pm
You can also request to take the call-out at our Fort McMurray office, Unit 9 – 266 MacKay Crescent.
These days, it’s rare for anyone who wants to work to leave the Dispatch Centre without a slip, unless he or she is seeking highly specialized work.
There are a few things to remember about this process:
• It’s up to each member to notify the Dispatch Centre when he or she is out of work. Don’t rely on the employer to tell us!
• Subject to the usual delay waiting for results of Drug & Alcohol testing, you must show up to take your work assignment within 24 hours.
• Work slips are distributed first to members who have been on the list the longest.
